handmade play

In these early childhood years we have  really enjoyed creating a home environment where creativity & imagination are nurtured.  While I don’t feel that children need lots of things,  it can be helpful to have resources & play things that prompt creative play & are just lot’s of fun for children to use through out the day, in whatever way they feel lead.

I especially love hand made things for children, made from natural products. I love that when I buy hand made I am supporting someone who has a talent in a particular creative area & often the maker is a parent selling their hand made items so that they can spend more time with their own children.

I sourced these felt play food items from Pickle Things… we have, felt veggies, ravioli & sauce and tea bags!

They all arrived so nicely packaged & I am so happy with the quality. They would make nice gifts for children too.

These ‘shooting stars’ from dream child studio are made from felt & ribbons… great for taking outside & throwing through the air.

Check out the organic wooden toys at Little Sapling Toys. Children of most ages could have fun with this organic wooden play camera from Little Sapling toys. It is so simple & what I have loved most about this toy, is that Ava ‘takes a picture’ with it & then she imagines what the picture looks like on the screen. She will bring it over to me & say “look mum that was a good one” or otherwise she may delete it if it wasn’t quite what she was hoping for…  she has really immersed herself in the idea that this camera takes pictures.
