The walk home

The school pick up could take me about 25 minutes total, but often it takes closer to an hour and 25 minutes. Here are some examples of why from one day this week…. 1. A little person asking to ride her ‘motorbike’ to the school (slowest motorbike ever!) 2. “Mum we should hold hands while I ride…

I just love how they soak up EVERYTHING and make little moments into adventures. How fun that all this can happen on the walk home! The roadside concert pose is too cute.

I just love that you allow them the time. I feel I am always rushing my two and I hate it.

Walking home for your two is such a ‘joyous occasion’ Glad you did’t have a cake in the oven for afternoon tea!

Sonia @ Life Love and Hiccups - March 13, 2012 - 3:18 pm

Your girls are just divine and you had me giggling with their antics. I love walks like that, but they always seem to want to do them when you are in a hurry. LOVE the earthquake comment, that is thr type of discussion I have with my middle son all the time.
Thank you – I was feeling pretty shitty today and your blog has put the smile back on my face. xxx

Michelle, we are usually rushing on the way to school, but the way home is a lot more relaxed!

Libby, a cake in the oven would not be a good idea at the pace my two wander home.

Devon, in a way I think it is because they don’t have ‘to-do’ lists running through their minds & responsibilties, that they are able to really just let the walk home be a moment all of it’s own without passing through it in a hurry. There is so much to learn from children.

I’m blown away by your beautiful post of words and pictures.

Thank you so much for the visual images i can now use on my website and blog. You were so awesome that day, i was full of beans wanting to get a million and one things done and you took it all in your stride. patiently.

I’m so happy too that you understood the love that i feel for creating a community. That has always been my aim, to have a shop where customers can actually stop. stop and talk and look and enjoy the small rituals again.

I LOVE the images so far and cant wait to see more.

The chances

For her, the day is filled with opportunities. She doesn’t miss a thing. A puddle to jump in, a bird to chase, a leaf to carry home in her pocket. There’s fun around every corner. An I love you in every hour. Today we raced out the door to school so fast that when we…

A day in the life of a child is so whimsical and fancy-free and it does take some slowing down sometimes to recognize the sweet little things. I love your writing style :)

Saturday Love | Sydney lifestyle photographer

Saturday morning… hot cross buns, butter & tea. I have a notebook where I document the funny things my kids say and this morning I took a moment to add a few. Pete made treasure maps for the girls and they searched for ‘cookies wrapped in foil’ in the yard by following the maps. Anouk…

I so enjoy these posts on everyday simple pleasures in life. I love that you keep a notebook for memorable things your kids say! Also, had to smile because my son and I sing a song about “hot cross buns” in music class :)
