Her dream day

The first time we took Ava to  Luna Park she was two & a half. She had spotted a Ferris wheel across the harbour & she was intrigued by it. She kept asking questions about it. We took her as a treat just after Anouk was born. I thought she might like it there, but…

Love the pics so much. Looks like an amazing day!

Peggy Saas - July 22, 2012 - 12:46 pm

What a gorgeous snapshot Lisa. Hours of fun with a slinky, awesome!!

Sarah - July 25, 2012 - 5:25 pm

Luna Park is one of Isaac’s all-time favourite places too – same thing: he saw a picture of a ferris wheel and became obsessed, we took him to Luna Park (or in our household, The Big Face) for a ride on the ferris wheel at age 2, and he hasn’t looked back. He even went for his latest visit (for Daddy-Son day) a couple of weeks ago too! I love how our families have similar experiences even though we don’t get together much!

Anouk is killing me with that slinky, so funny. I love the shot of her looking out over the harbour, with her little slinky friend at her feet.

Your photos are STUNNING! Your children are beautiful! Your writing is wonderful!

someone

Someone keeps leaving hand drawn pictures on my desk where I work at home. I suspect there are two artists at work here because there are two distinct styles of drawing. One of the mystery artists uses coloured pencils and fills the page with rainbows, flowers & girls wearing skirts. The other artists works with…

Hotly Spiced - July 18, 2012 - 10:51 pm

The drawings are gorgeous. I love how they are engaging in your world and reminding you of their presence. And a shopping list is very helpful – I wish someone would do one for me! xx

Jessica - July 29, 2012 - 4:04 pm

I love these pictures. Someone does the same things at our place also.

for a time

It was the apple that finally did it. She had a loose tooth that had needed to fall out for weeks. We picked Ava up from school last Friday & decided to go somewhere filled with Autumn leaves to enjoy the end of the season together. It was there that the apple caused her tooth to finally fall out. She…

While I always admire your photography skills, it’s such a joy to read your stories. You can see pictures from your words just by the way you articulate a moment, a memory, a thought. Just beautiful

Kirsten - June 1, 2012 - 6:54 pm

Such a great blog post on enjoying the seasons. Did you catch any of the Ecclesiastes series in Hub just gone? Ecc 3 in particular was about seasons and how transient they are. Thank God for beautiful seasons like these!! PS- love the Autumn light with Autumn leaves!!

Peggy Saas - June 7, 2012 - 11:25 pm

Just beautiful Lisa. Your words are so delightful, I discover that over and over again as I come to treat my eyes to the visual delights that are your photographs. Just beautiful. xo

Will | Sydney child photographer

Pete & I recently spent a fun afternoon taking pictures of young Will & his lovely mother & Grandmother. His mum Lisa was convinced Will must have been our most challenging client to photograph yet, simply because he didn’t stand still very much. He ran, he ran and he ran some more… generally in the…

Olivia - May 22, 2012 - 9:39 pm

These are beautiful photos. Lisa is so photogenic and Will is just delightful. We have been looking forward to this post – wonderful memories.

Lisa - May 22, 2012 - 9:51 pm

You have captured his essence in every way – this is the little tiger cub I see running daily. Every facial expression. Every smile. Thankyou for these very precious moments. We feel blessed to have spent that time with you.

Lisa Jay - May 22, 2012 - 10:17 pm

Ale, Thank you. Coming from a photographer as talented & a lady as gorgeous as you, that is so lovely.

Olivia, Yes Lisa is a ridiculous amount of photogenic! I was worried that it would look like I had edited their faces (when I haven’t) because they just glow. I should have mentioned that the shoot was Lisa’s styling… she brought the apple, the trike, Wills cute clothes.

Lisa, You are so blessed with that little tiger cub!! I wonder how the tourists images of Will turned out :)

Emma - May 25, 2012 - 3:03 am

These are so precious! I love how you captured his active personality!

Leonie Jay - May 28, 2012 - 12:02 pm

Anouk Nouvelle | 3rd birthday

Dear Anouk, You turned 3 last weekend. It has been 3 years since you were born, on your Grandma’s birthday, making me rush to the hospital before I had served the birthday cake at lunch. You told us this week that your favourite things are; pink, babies, escalators, ice cream, buses and berries (you said this…

Lisa I love love love this post. I love the picture you created of Anouk’s thankfulness for her gifts. It’s exactly what I witnessed from Lucy this week on her birthday. So inspiring. She’s as thankful for a ‘boring’ tshirt as a Tinkerbell doll.

I also love ‘I’m exciting’. Isaac used to say ‘I’m exhausting’. And that he was. ;) I’m sure you ARE exciting, Anouk. xx

Lisa Jay - May 20, 2012 - 8:27 pm

Thanks Sarah! You sharing that about Lucy does not surprise me at all. Many of the pictures of your kids opening their b’day & Christmas gifts with such appreciation have stuck in my head. It’s funny.. when Ava wanted to wrap her ‘creation’ for Anouk I was almost tempted to say it would be a waste of wrapping paper to wrap something that wasn’t one of her actual presents (because we still had to wrap my mums b’day presents & two lots of mothers day gifts). Thankfully I realised that to her it was a ‘real’ gift & so I didn’t say it & I helped her wrap it. What a lesson I learned when Anouk opened it & loved it like any other gift.

Sonia @ Life Love and Hiccups - May 21, 2012 - 8:03 pm

Oh Lisa – Happy Birthday to your beautiful little girl. She is such a little doll and I just adore these photos of her and her equally gorgeous sister. xxx

Lisa Jay - May 22, 2012 - 12:48 pm

Thank you Sonia!! xx

Bianca - May 22, 2012 - 11:13 pm

What lovely sisters they are. Anouk is such a character, whenever I see her she looks so serious but then I see your beautiful photos and it’s clear she is a bit of a comedian!! Beautiful photos of a special day for a special girl. Happy birthday Anouk!

Lisa Jay - May 22, 2012 - 11:30 pm

Thanks Bianca, Anouk is quiet around groups of people, but a total character with us. Thanks for being part of her day. xx
