In Style

This weekend we worked on a styled photo session for Bobbie from Sweet Celebrations. I will share the links to her website when it launches because if you are a parent to young children in Sydney then you will want to check out what ‘Sweet Celebrations’ will be offering in the way of product purchase & hire for themed childrens parties. It was so nice to finally meet Bobbie and her family after all the interaction we have had on line. I snapped a couple of pics of her gorgeous party styling, with my iphone & the real pics will follow soon. Pete snapped one picture of me working with some of our little models. If you follow me on instamatic then you would have seen the picture below yesterday. Last night I was looking at the picture of me and thinking there was something really familiar about it, but I couldn’t figure out what it was. Then in a moment of genius I realised why the picture was familiar. Two words…. Where’s. Wally.   ….. or in this case, Where’s Wenda. Yep I showed up to a ‘styled’ photo shoot, personally styled as ‘Where’s Wenda’. How did I miss that? Admittedly at the moment we don’t actually have a full sized mirror at home, so I’m using that as my excuse…

Seriously!! All I needed was the little hat with the pom pom…

I bet Donna Hay’s photographer’s don’t accidentally show up to work looking like they got the memo about the shoot being fancy dress for all. Thankfully I am not in the pictures. Well at least I wasn’t until Pete took the iphone one.
Look at how the children are looking at me. I think they are resisting the urge to shout out “Found you!!!”

I’ve only worn that top once & it is really comfy, so I’m not going to give it up. I just won’t team it with blue jeans & a camera…. or beanies & triangle lensed glasses… or back packs & walking sticks.

Brilliant, I can just imagine the children wanting to shout “found you!!” what a great business idea, I am looking forward to finding out more about sweet celebrations.

Funny. So many memories in that park! I can just see my 16 year old self eating hot chips and snogging my first boyfriend.

Sarah Bishop - March 27, 2012 - 8:27 am

Just say the word if you want me to crochet you that hat with the pompom. I’m sure I could FIND a pattern.

Jessica - March 27, 2012 - 12:28 pm

You look great Lisa even if you look like Wenda. What a gorgeous table setting. Always fabulous photos!

Lisa Jay - March 29, 2012 - 2:24 pm

Sarah I might hold off on the hat for now. Thank you though I know if anyone could make me one you could! ;)

Lisa Jay - March 29, 2012 - 2:25 pm

Sarah (White), I’ll be sure to let you know the details. x

Lisa Jay - March 29, 2012 - 2:27 pm

Thanks Jess, the real images are still to come. Bobbie set up three different parties for the shoot & the children loved them!

little dreamers | family session sneak peek

For children it is the little things that are the big things. In their very hands they often hold evidence of their dreams…

Little one’s remind us that the smallest things are precious & important…

Children can be the smallest people with the biggest dreams…

Dreams of the shoes they will fill tomorrow…

and dreams of the castles they will build today…

Did you dream big when you were small?

[more of this session with a family of 5 soon...]

Olivia & Michael | Sydney lifestyle photographer

Olivia & I met in 1998 when we were both first year dance students at college. I was delighted when Olivia & Michael told us they were expecting their first baby & more so when they asked if we could organise a maternity photo session. Knowing a little bit about them, I knew right away that I wanted their photo session to be a story session telling a little about their love for fine food from their local community. We met up a few months before their session & they introduced us to the places they go to for fine chocolate, coffee, cheeses & local fruit & veg. During the actual session we followed them to those places & then had some fun taking portraits… including a few with their Vespa. Every season of life is so fleeting & precious. It is so important to stop & savour what you have right now. I loved seeing how happy these two are & how much Olivia has cherished being pregnant, not to mention how flat out gorgeous she looked. She is already feeling that she will miss the feeling of the baby being in her belly when it is born. I will let the pictures say the rest about this beautiful couple. Wish them all the best… their baby is due tomorrow!! Thank you so much to Colefax chocolates & Franks Fruit market in Haberfield, for allowing Olivia & Mike & their paparazzi of two to stop by. Apparently Frank has picked out a place in his shop for his portrait with Olivia…
